Rainy Day at the Forbidden City

Of course we chose a public holiday to visit the most popular tourist attraction in the entire city.  Imagine if it hadn't been drizzly.  Actually, the Palace Museum (the Forbidden City's official title) is so massive, that once we got in the door, it wasn't what could be traditionally termed "crowded".  Lots of people, yes; but lots of space for us all to spread out in.

I remember being shocked that I spent an entire afternoon wandering around Pompeii.  It's so rich with things to see, that you can easily lose yourself for several hours.

The Forbidden City is like that, several times over.  After nearly six hours, we still hadn't seen it all, and some of the rear palaces we rushed through.  But it was closing time.

As it is a must-see for any visitor to Beijing, we're not worried; we'll be back, probably several times.

We Made It

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  We know: we've been here a week already, and no posts!  Now, we're going to send some out fast and furious-like.  Okay, so maybe just a couple to start out.

Anyway, this is us by Hou Hai lake.  We want to go to there.  Wait.  We did go to there.  And we had some rooftop beers in between apartment-hunting appointments.  Great way to spend a holiday Sunday (May 1 was Labor Day here in China).
